What to look for
A good LED mask should have
- Red and near-infrared wavelengths, clearly stated. Around 660nm and 850nm is the combination with the strongest research behind it.
- Good, even coverage. A mask that sits over the whole face delivers light evenly and is far easier to stick with than a handheld you have to move around.
- A comfortable, wearable design. Flexible silicone is more comfortable than rigid plastic, and comfort is what makes you actually use it.
- A sensible routine. Around ten minutes a day is realistic. If a device demands long, awkward sessions, it will end up in a drawer.
- Cordless or easy to use. The fewer barriers between you and using it, the more results you will actually get.
- Honest claims. A brand that tells you what it will not do is usually more trustworthy than one promising to erase years.
Red flags to walk away from

- "Seven colours" as the headline feature. More colours is not better. Most have little robust evidence for anti-ageing, and spreading a device across many can mean each is weaker.
