Both are physical, both are well established, and neither requires you to take anything on faith.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\n\u003cul\u003e\n\u003cli\u003e\n\u003cstrong\u003eLess friction.\u003c\/strong\u003e Silk has a far smoother surface than cotton, so skin and hair slide across it instead of dragging. Research on hair damage consistently points to mechanical friction as a major cause of breakage and frizz, which is why smoother surfaces are recommended for fragile, curly, chemically treated and colour-treated hair.\u003c\/li\u003e\n\u003cli\u003e\n\u003cstrong\u003eLess absorbency.\u003c\/strong\u003e Cotton is a wick.
